JULE VERA – Vera Merry Christmas (Maxi Single)

Very little brings as much joy to the world as current pop / rock Warped Tour sensation, Jule Vera. And just in time for the joyous holiday season, the kids from Auburn have dropped a delightful yuletide treasure — one featuring a fistful of festive favorites.

Bursting with signature JV style, the three-song maxi single opens with an irresistible remake of  the 1984 Wham! hit, “Last Christmas.” Lacquered with layers of lush acoustic work from guitarists Jake Roland and Chase Haws, honey-coated vocals courtesy of frontchick Ansley Newman and “seasoned” to perfection with authentic sleigh bell spice, this George Michael-penned classic now feels fresh and new.

Airy and ambient — the band transforms Mariah Carey’s high-energy ’90s-era blockbuster, “All I Want for Christmas” successfully into a slick and sultry present day seduction.

Toastier and cozier than ever, the super-stripped-down recreation of the 1940s standard, “Sleigh Ride” pops out as possibly the best of the batch. Nearly naked, the track offers Newman’s honest and pure ukulele accompaniment pinned delicately to her angelic vocal. BRAVO!

In sum, Jule Vera has scored a seasonal slam dunk, for sure.
