Wormwood Prophecy

5 Song EP

Wormwood Prophecy is a five piece band hailing from Orange Park Fl.  I’m not really sure what there is to do in that part of the country, but based on the band’s bio, nothing that seems more time worthy than drinking beer and practicing your asses off.

I haven’t had the opportunity to throw a few back with this relatively young militia of metal heads so I can’t attest first hand at their drinking consumption prowess.  Although I can say without a doubt that based on the 5 song disc they’ve just released, the time they’ve committed to practicing their craft is evident in every song.

Their music is reminiscent of 80’s bay area thrash such as early Testament, Exodus and Death Angel. The vocals were on par with Kreator’s “Extreme Aggression” era. However the vocals are buried in the production and the music, especially the guitar shredding, takes prevalence.

Which may be what the group was aiming for all along because truth be told; the music is imaginative and creative, showcasing depth, wisdom and fearlessness beyond the bands young age.  In a way it’s tantamount to listening to a Symphony by Bach or Mozart…if that Symphony was inspired by a bloody rampage through the streets.

If these 5 musicians continue the work ethic they’ve committed to thus far as well as being daring and unafraid to forge their own brand of metal, then only greater rewards await in their future.
